How to enter and prepare your files

Categories
Photographic entries must fall into one of the following categories:
People
Nature
Sports
Human Interest
Commercial—food or product
You must designate which category you photo should be entered in to qualify for awards.
Preparing Your Files for Entry
To qualify for awards, all images must conform to the following:
Cropped to 8x10 inches at 300 ppi.
Save your files with the following format:
LastnameFirstname_title of the photo
Example GarceauChristine_BighornMountain
Attach your entry or entries to the email as a JPEG (no other formats or web links will be considered).
If more than one image is Untitled, name them Untitled_1, Untitled_2, Untitled_3, etc.
In the email body include the titles and the categories you want them entered in.
Do not include your name as a watermark on the photos or they will be disqualified.
How To Submit Your Entries:

Send no more than 5 digital files that have been prepared as indicated in the instructions listed above to: northwest.photo@gmail.com
In the subject line of your email write: HS PHOTO CONTEST and YOUR NAME.
In the text body of your email, you need to provide the following so we can send awards and certificates or contact you if we have questions regarding your entry:
a. Your first and last name
b. Mailing address
c. Phone number
d. Email address
e. Include the name of your high school.
d. Include the name of your teacher or yearbook advisor
Attach (do not drop and drag) your files to the email—be sure you have named each image as indicated above. Do not insert your images into the email text that will lead to a disqualified entry.
Provide a title for each image as it will appear next to the winning photos in the Top-20 winner video to be posted to YouTube and the NWC Photographic Communications webpage
We may need to contact you during the summer if your photos fall into the Top-20 categories, or if you are selected as one of the Top-Three winners. (Failure to include this information in your email may be cause for disqualification).
Terms and Conditions
COPYRIGHT:
The creator (photographer) is the only copyright owner and creator of the photographs.
The photographs do not infringe upon the copyrights or any other intellectual property rights of any third person or entity, or violate any person’s rights of privacy, does not include trademarks owned by third parties or violate any other law.
USAGE RIGHTS:
By entering High School Photo contest, you give permission to the Photographic Communications program at Northwest College to print your images for display as well as publish them in the local newspapers, the Northwest College website and the Photographic Communication Facebook group page.
Additionally, when possible, entrants should obtain permission and a copyright release from any individual identifiable in entry photographs. Individuals featured in photos have the right to know their images may be published on social media websites.
If your images contain any material or elements that are not owned by you, and are subject to copyrights of third parties, the entrant is responsible for obtaining any and all releases and consents necessary to permit exhibition and use of the photograph as described above. (These might include paintings, sculptures or other works of art made by someone other than the photographer submitting the images).
The copyright of the Works during and after the exhibition remains with the Artist.
NWC does not have the right to make use of or bestow the high definition files or the prints of the Works that will be used for the realization of the exhibition.NWC will not have any commercial profit from the Works that will be exhibited and it cannot exploit them at any time.
All photographs used by NWC will clearly have the photographer’s credit. In case this has been overseen, there will be immediate corrections when mentioned.
Artists grant NWC the right to use their images to promote the photo challenges, for display NWC webpage and for inclusion On Instagram, Twitter and Facebook.
