Outdoor Photography

As a first year seminar class for incoming freshman interested in a career in commercial photography, this class acclimates students to the academic culture of Northwest College by preparing for an intensive weekend photographing in the Beartooth Mountains and Yellowstone National Park. At the beginning of the semester students become familiar with Northwest College in general; its programs, majors, services, and personnel. These topics will be covered in the first meeting along with an assignment discussing students’ academic and career planning. While on the field studies trip into the greater Yellowstone ecosystem, students will explore photographic concepts of aesthetics, lighting, composition and technical aspects of landscape, outdoor and wildlife image-making.
